Good luck to Roshan Khan who is taking on the London Marathon in memory of his dearest wife who sadly lost her battle with breast cancer, and to thank all the healthcare staff for the care she received.  Roshan will also be reflecting on his struggles with his health; making it through a quadruple by-pass operation and to say thank you for the wonderful care he received during and following his operation.”

Roshan said: “I went to my GP on several occasions with various complaints and was eventually referred to the Cardiology Department at the University Hospital of Wales.  After a number of tests I was diagnosed as suffering from angina and had a number of blocked arteries and required CABG (by-pass) operation.

“At the end of November 2017, I underwent a quadruple by-pass operation at UHW.  Although the team explained what to expect, I was still very anxious before the operation. It’s amazing how right they were. Everything went according to plan and just as they explained, and even better, as I was discharged two days earlier than expected prior to the op.

“All the consultants, surgeons, nurses and the support staff were absolutely fantastic in looking after me at the hospital and providing subsequent care and support. I just feel like doing something by way of a THANK YOU and to show how my health has improved since the op.

“Three years on from my operation I feel so much better and positive about everything. The support and care received has helped me to find a will to go on, to build an enthusiasm for running.  Initially I had only wished to be able to run 5k; then I managed 10k and then went on to do the Cardiff Half Marathon and now I’m daring and hoping to do the big one – the London Marathon. My heart is eager to achieve this”.
