Cardiff & Vale Health Charity is pleased to announce Carole Anne Regan, Antenatal Clinic Midwife has been crowned Health Hero for April.

Carole Anne is an Antenatal Clinic Midwife and her nomination was written by patients that felt she had really been there for them during what has been ‘the most traumatic time of our life’.

Whilst the patients were needed to stay at the department for most of the day, it was sure to have been a stressful time whilst they underwent a number of tests and procedures. However, Carole Anne made sure the patients knew what was happening next and what to expect, and listened to their concerns and worries. By giving them her time during what was clearly a busy department, the patients felt Carole Anne’s compassion.

The patients, who wish to remain anonymous said, “The job that Carole Anne does is highly emotive, and for her to be able to do it with such kindness and empathy is humbling. She made a terrible experience bearable for us and we would love for her to be recognised for the amazing work she does.”

Not only has Carole Anne been there for the patients in-person at the clinic, but she’s also dedicated her time to phone calls, helping them navigate a complex journey involving many different specialties with overwhelming amounts of information. It was clear from the feedback we received that Carole Anne often goes above and beyond her role and is always supportive.

Elizabeth Cleavely, Antenatal Clinic Manager said, “Carole Anne is the most conscientious and caring midwife. I am thrilled she has won this award.”

Carole Anne will be Health Hero for the month of April and will receive a treat from sponsors Park Plaza Cardiff. She is delighted with the award nomination.

The Health Hero Award is supported by Cardiff & Vale Health Charity and Park Plaza Cardiff.
