During Covid-19, James and his family sourced, prepared and cooked over 26,000 meals for NHS staff on the
frontline at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. James has since produced a cookery book to sell to raise money for the Health Charity which is the official charity of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
Restaurant, James Sommerin in Penarth and made sure our healthworkers were able to eat a decent meal during their shifts.
From dishes like sticky toffee pudding to lamb ragu these top rated chefs pulled out all the stops to get thousands of meals to staff at the University Hospital of Wales and University Hospital Llandough.
James Sommerin, along with his wife Louise and daughter Georgia, were working up to 16 hour days at the restaurant in Penarth to get the meals prepped, cooked, portioned up and out for delivery three times a week.
James donated the food and their time free of charge to fill bellies and keep up morale during extremely difficult times. James also made hundreds of Welsh cakes for the opening of the surge hospital, Dragon’s Heart Hospital for staff to enjoy. Words cannot express how grateful we were for their support of our NHS staff.
