Cardiff & Vale Health Charity, the official charity of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, is joining with NHS Charities across Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England to host the NHS Big Tea throughout Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, from Monday 24th June to Sunday 7th July and everyone is invited to join in.

People across the UK are holding tea dances, tea parties and are organising other events and activities to show appreciation for NHS staff and raise money make healthcare services even better for patients now and in the future.

Simone Joslyn, Head of Arts and Health Charity at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board said:  “We thought this was a great opportunity to raise money for Cardiff & Vale Health Charity.

“Not all services provided in our hospitals are funded by the NHS.  The Health Charity aims to make environments, facilities and services better over and above what the NHS can provide, we need to raise money. That’s why I’m supporting the Big Tea Party and why I’m encouraging others to do the same.

“It may be called the NHS Big Tea, but donations don’t need to be big. Whatever their size, the donations we receive do help to make a big difference for our patients.”

Mike Jones, Branch Secretary at Cardiff and Vale Unison Health Branch said: “We were delighted to get involved and hold a NHS Big Tea in Concourse at the University Hospital of Wales.

“Our staff do a fantastic job and we want to celebrate that. We also want to give back and help make sure that people in our local area can benefit from the very best facilities and services, and that’s why we’re getting involved in the NHS Big Tea – to raise money and show our support for our fantastic staff.”
