University Hospital Llandough (UHL) is on the verge of developing of a remarkable new way of delivering health care through the use of the outdoors – and they want to know what you think!

Led by Cardiff & Vale Health Charity on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and based on the very latest clinical research, the new seven-acre outdoor rehabilitation facility will be created and maintained by patients and staff through a healthcare-centred approach with support from Down to Earth – an award-winning social enterprise with a 16-year track record in this field.

The entire site development will be based on using only natural materials, biodiversity-enhancing features, edible landscapes and green infrastructure.

It will be an exemplar of how the outdoors can be used in a way which is good for people and good for the planet – in a way which is ‘Fit for the Future’.

The site plan has been designed with input from patients, staff and the wider community through a digital consultation process in October 2020.  Even the new name, “Our Health Meadow”, has come from the consultation process.

This is now the final stage to have your say before the full planning application is submitted.

The Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) runs until Monday 26th April 2021.

You can find out more about the plans and have your say here: www.fitforthefuture.uk

Hopefully, Down to Earth will be working with patients and staff on the site development from autumn 2021.
