Jane Murphy has spent her career caring for patients and supporting staff across Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. This October, the Director of Nursing for the Medicine Clinical Board is taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon to raise funds for Cardiff & Vale Health Charity, a cause that is close to her heart.
Through her role, Jane sees the difference the charity makes across hospitals, wards and community services every day. As the official charity of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, it funds projects, equipment and enhancements that go beyond NHS funding, helping to improve the experience of patients, families and staff.
Jane said, “As Director of Nursing for the Medicine Clinical Board at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, I have the privilege of seeing the dedication, compassion and commitment of our NHS staff every single day. I also see patients and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
“That is why Cardiff & Vale Health Charity means so much to me.
“Throughout my career, I have witnessed first-hand the impact the charity has had on our wards. It has helped create calmer, more welcoming environments, provided equipment that enhances patient care, and supported initiatives that improve the experience of patients, their families and our staff.
“These are the moments that help people feel cared for, valued and supported during some of the toughest times in their lives.
“I’m taking on this challenge because I want to give something back to a charity that gives so much to others.”

By taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon, Jane hopes to raise vital funds to help Cardiff & Vale Health Charity continue supporting patients, families and staff when they need it most.
If you’d like to support Jane’s challenge, please consider making a donation through her JustGiving page. Every contribution, big or small, will help create moments of comfort, compassion and care across Cardiff and Vale.
