Bethan Davies, Glan Taf Special Resource base, Ysgol Gyfun Cymraeg Glan Taf

“It’s been the best 8-week programme ever and the children have learnt so much. It’s the highlight of our week and provided them with skills they never thought they would gain. Bringing them out of the classroom and being outside in nature has made a huge difference in behaviours.

“The Children feel at ease at Our Health Meadow and have felt relaxed enough to speak to adults they don’t know, which isn’t the norm. I’ve seen fantastic new skills such as team working, improved behaviour, stamina and confidence, and new skill sets to help in the wider world. They even had the opportunity to gain a qualification which they wouldn’t have had the opportunity to achieve otherwise. It’s made them realise they are capable of achieving anything they want.”

“The Our Health Meadow project doesn’t focus on what patients can’t do as other therapies do, they focus on what you can do. The programmes and amazing staff show participants that while you can’t reverse what has happened to you, you can adapt to anything to be able to participate and engage in life. This project empowers patients.”

Margaret, Patient with a brain injury

“The Health Meadow project has been extremely beneficial to me. I’ve enjoyed re-learning skills that I had lost due to my brain injury and I’ve gained so much more confidence. I realise that I can learn to live with my brain injury by taking part in programmes like this where I meet peers and am able to socialise, whilst improving the environment and my wellbeing at the same time.”

NHS Staff Member

“Knowing I had this one day a week helped with my motivation at work. It has been a very hard time for us in the NHS, so many stressful events, one after the other. Coming to the Health Meadow project each week really helped to alleviate the feeling of being burnt out and worn down. It helped my mental health massively.”

Dave, Innovate Trust Participant

“I’ve been making new friends and just being here makes me feel happy. I feel alive here, being outdoors and feeling like part of the community; I love it.”
