The delivery suite at the University Hospital of Wales has recently had sky tiles installed to help transform their birthing environments into calm and relaxing spaces.
Sky tiles are a unique way to transform hospital spaces into calming environments.
These ultra-thin energy saving LED illuminated panels with high definition images are set within the ceiling, are easy to install and emulate natural daylight. They fit within most ceiling grids and create an authentic illusion of the sky, bringing the outdoors in.
Cardiff & Vale Health Charity kindly funded the purchase and installation of the sky tiles to improve patient experience of the service.
Sarah Spencer, Senior Midwife at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board said: “The feedback from patients regarding the birth environment has been overwhelmingly positive. I’d like to thank Cardiff & Vale Health Charity for funding these sky tiles to benefit our patients.
“The first woman to give birth in the room following the installation, both her and her husband commented on how nice it was to focus on the images and be able to dim the light themselves to create a calming environment.”
