Everyone at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity would like to say a huge thank to Team B6 and wish them the best of luck for their Lands End to John O’Groats Challenge in support of Ward B6 at the University Hospital of Wales!

Like many other departments, the staff members of Ward B6 were reassigned from their normal clinical duties throughout 2020 and 2021 to support the UHB’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Members of the team said “As nurses working in the centre of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have all been working on our mental health and are now are also concentrating on our physical health. Our redistribution in response to COVID has taken its toll on us emotionally and physically but we are coming through the other side and are now also focusing on the future of the ward”.

As a result, the Ward B6 team wished to support their own department further so challenged themselves to complete the Lands End to John O’Groats Challenge throughout March 2021, aiming to complete the whopping 837 mile challenge by running, walking and cycling their way to the finish line.

The team are doing this challenge to raise money for Ward B6 and said “we would love to raise money for the ward to make our patient’s lives more bearable during their stay with us. Any donation, large or small will be greatly appreciated by all our patients and staff alike”.

We at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity very much appreciate this act of kindness and on behalf of all the NHS teams here in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, we thank Team B6 from the bottom of our hearts for their inspiring kindness and generosity once again and wish the best of luck for their challenge.
