Cardiff & Vale Health Charity is delighted to announce that local Welsh Actor, Suzanne Packer, has agreed to become the new Patron of the Breast Centre Appeal.

Cardiff & Vale Health Charity is the official charity of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, which supports the work of two of the largest hospitals in Wales: University Hospital of Wales and University Hospital Llandough plus the wider UHB healthcare providers across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

The Health Charity manages over 300 separate funds, supporting every area of health care, providing equipment, research, treatment and patient care that is not normally funded from the NHS budget.

As a new patron for the Breast Centre Appeal, Suzanne has already attended our Pink Tie Gala dinner at the beginning of December, and has met with Mr Sumit Goyal MBE, Consultant Breast Surgeon and members of the Breast Centre Committee for a tour of some of the facilities at the Breast Centre, University Hospital Llandough.  Suzanne was overwhelmed with the purpose built Breast Centre, and so impressed with some of the areas funded by the Breast Centre Appeal – including the unique exercise prescription service provided for our patients, and the sensitively designed patient areas.

Suzanne said, “I am delighted to be asked to join the wonderful team at The Breast Centre Appeal as a charity patron. Thank you Mr Goyal and your team for taking the time to show me around these world-leading facilities of the Breast Centre at University Hospital Llandough. I am so impressed and very inspired to do all I can do to champion the work of this essential charity.”

Mr Goyal said, “It is delightful to see such an enthusiastic and energetic famous Welsh woman come in to support of our charity. I welcome Suzanne to the team and look forward to working with her.”

Previous patient, volunteer fundraiser and member of the Breast Centre Committee, Mandy Weston said, “It is amazing that Suzanne has joined our support team along with Welsh Actor Justine Jones.  Having the support of these two amazing Welsh women will have a huge impact on the future funds we can raise and the continued support to our patients.”

Suzanne will be hosting several fundraising events for the Breast Centre Appeal throughout the coming year, including the Gold Tie Gala Dinner being held in December 2024: https://healthcharity.wales/events/gold-tie-gala-dinner-for-the-breast-centre-appeal-saturday-30th-november-2024/
