Everyone at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity would like to say a big thank you to SMK Building and Maintenance Ltd whose employees have decided to take the bold decision to shave their heads, all in aid of helping the staff of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board during the COVID-19 pandemic!
The employees of SMK wanted to show their support for the NHS staff tirelessly working across Cardiff and the Vale so decided to start fundraising. Shaun Williams, Lead Fundraiser and Company Director of SMK (shown right) was the first to shave his head along with two members of his family, Jim and Jac (shown below), to encourage other employees to be bold and go bald. On Thursday 23rd April 2020, other employees at SMK shaved their heads before going to clap our NHS employees for all their hard work. With SMK also pledging to match every £10 donation made by their employees, their total currently stands at a fantastic £720! SMK wished to donate this to Cardiff & Vale Health Charity to help support their local NHS staff.
Shaun said “I think it’s clear to me and my staff how much our local health service needs our support at the moment and what better way to show gratitude for their hard work and dedication than by raising important funds (and parting ways with our beloved hair!). It’s also been a good way to raise morale amongst our own colleagues who are currently off work due to COVID”.
We at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity very much appreciate this act of kindness and on behalf of all the NHS teams here in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, we thank SMK Building and friends from the bottom of our hearts for their inspiring kindness and generosity once again.
