On the evening of Wednesday 22nd November, the Health Charity visited University Hospital Llandough to launch the Shine Bright Appeal.
To kick off the festive celebrations, Cogan Primary School choir sang an array of songs, bringing the Christmas cheer. Chair of the Charitable Funds Committee, John Union, thanked all our generous sponsors this year, and explained how the money raised from the event would support Our Health Meadow.
With the countdown in full swing, main sponsor F P Hurley & Sons switched on the lights and the stars on the Hafan y Coed building illuminated the sky, and the Christmas tree twinkled brightly. Thanks to donations from Tesco Penarth, Morrisons Cardiff Bay, and Finsbury Foods we were able to hand out mince pies and cakes.
Though incredibly busy at this time of year, Santa appeared with Mrs Claus and one of his trusty elves alongside two dashing reindeer in their merry uniforms.
To close the event, Stanwell School choir joyfully sang a mixed medley of upbeat songs and the crowd cheered loudly.
Cardiff & Vale Health Charity would like to thank all the generous sponsors and donors that helped make this event, and to those who attended and celebrated the countdown to Christmas. Another thanks to Capital, Estates, and Facilities for installing the stars and aiding with the switch-on, and to Christow Home, and Seasons Garden and Christmas Outlet who donated extra lights to display. The stars will be lit throughout December for patients, staff, visitors and the local community to enjoy.
