Thank you to Katie, Tom and Will, who organised the third Run for Charli event, rallying their community to participate in another 24-hour challenge. After last year’s success, they were inspired to continue raising funds for the Better Life Fund along with their friends, family and anyone else who wanted to take part.
The events have been organised in memory of Charli Davies, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at 2 years old. In 2015, Charli received a double lung transplant which was a great success and enabled Charli to live a full life again, however unfortunately, in October 2017 there was a rapid change in Charli’s condition and she sadly passed away after a long and courageous battle.
Tom, Will and Katie have been organising the Run for Charli events for the past 3 years to celebrate the wonderful Charli, and to raise awareness of the difficulties of living with Cystic Fibrosis.
The passionate fundraisers said: “Our third year doing run for Charli, and it keeps getting better and better. We thought that 24 hours for Charli was just a one off when Tom and Will ran the Richard Burton route continuously for 24 hours last year. However, with how well it took off we decided to continue 24 hours for Charli and this year organise a 24-hour relay.”
“Run for Charli was created to keep Charli’s memory alive, raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis, and fundraise for the Better Life Fund. The whole community came together to support us and the feedback we have had has been amazing.”
The team have organised yet another fundraising challenge for their motivated community of supporters! They are rallying their family and friends to participate in #366Days4Charli, to walk, jog or run the Richard Burton 10k route every day until the main relay event in 2024.
Every participant is donating £1 per lap and they are aiming for 1000 laps. If you’d like to support this dedicated team of fundraisers, you can join in to walk/jog/run a lap, or just donate through their JustGiving page.
Huge congratulations to Katie, Tom, Will and all participants for their continuous support to the Better Life Fund. Cardiff & Vale Health Charity extend their heartfelt thank you for helping to change the lives of those living with Cystic Fibrosis.
