Pick-me-up pallets containing thousands of items were kindly donated to Cardiff and Vale University Health Board staff from the Blue Light Card and In Kind Direct.

The Blue Light Card and In Kind Direct contacted Cardiff & Vale Health Charity to offer self-care bundles for staff aimed at helping to pick staff up and boost morale following a challenging time during the pandemic.

The “Pick-me-up” programme was created by Tom Dalby, CEO of Blue Light Card.  “Pick-me-up” pallets were delivered to many hospitals throughout the UK. The Blue Light Card worked closely with charity, In Kind Direct, to put together and deliver the first free pallets of ‘pick-me-up’ items to 25 NHS Trusts and Health Boards across the UK.

Each pallet contained a mix of personal care items and treats such as chocolates and soft drinks, as the Blue Light Card wanted to support staff and put a smile on the faces of those working so hard to protect our communities and save lives.

Tom Dalby CEO of Blue Light Card said: “The Covid-19 pandemic means that the NHS and emergency services are even more stretched than usual, and will be selflessly and tirelessly working to keep us safe, healthy and supported, often going into unknown dangers to do so it’s times like this we value our blue light community even more.

“We felt like we wanted to give back and support our members on the front line, alongside our discounts and offers online. The pallets of ‘pick me up’ items are our way of saying ‘thank you’ for their dedication over the past few months, and hopefully contain items to bring a smile to people’s faces and to genuinely help.”

“We are very grateful to all of the generous companies that have donated items to help.”

Simone Joslyn, Head of Cardiff & Vale Health Charity said: “I’d like to thank the Blue Light Card and In Kind Direct for their generous donations for our staff which were greatly appreciated by all.

“It has been an incredibly challenging time for staff on the frontline and so many people and organisations have shown kindness and compassion for our NHS in the form of food, donations and treats.  We really are grateful for all the support received during the past few months.”
