Congratulations and a massive thank you to our young stars Max and Alfie Jones who completed their 8 Hour Den Challenge, all in aid of helping the staff of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board during the COVID-19 pandemic!

Inspired by stories of VE Day and World War II, Max and Alfie decided to build a den in Alfie and his twin brother Noah’s bedroom to replicate a bomb shelter. They challenged themselves to remain in the den for 8 hours taking a 5 minute break every hour to stretch their legs and take toilet breaks when required, but aside from this pledged to remain in the den.

Their father Owen said “Being inspired by the VE stories, they decided to replicate a bomb shelter through play, which developed into a challenge to raise funds for all the NHS heroes currently working on the frontline catering for patients during the current pandemic.”

Supported by their brother and sister, Noah and Chloe, who were on hand to provide drinks, food and much needed encouragement, the pair completed their challenge with ease! Not only did they complete their challenge, but also smashed their £100 fundraising target by so far raising a fantastic £817.50, Which they have donated to the Health Charity’s Spread The Love Campaign to help our frontline NHS heroes!

We at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity very much appreciate this act of kindness and on behalf of all the NHS teams here in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, we thank Max and Alfie from the bottom of our hearts their inspiring kindness and generosity once again.
