Everyone at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity would like to say an enormous thank you to Jonathan Davies who decided to take part in Ryan Jones’ 100 for 100 Challenge, all in aid of helping the staff of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board during the COVID-19 pandemic!
Over the Easter weekend Ryan Jones, the former Welsh Rugby international and WRU Performance Director, challenged himself to run a marathon in his back garden to raise money for the NHS. But that wasn’t enough as the following weekend, Ryan decided to challenge himself and others to cycle 100 miles on a turbo training bike in their back garden whilst donating £100 to the NHS.
Jonathan, a deputy head teacher at Ffynnon Taf Primary School in Taff’s Well, was inspired by this and took part in the event. Jonathan, who originally set himself a target of raising £100, decided to fundraise for Cardiff & Vale Health Charity help support our NHS heroes here in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Jonathan has since smashed his £100 target, raising a whopping £2,170 to support our frontline NHS staff during this pandemic!
Jonathan said” Since the lockdown started I have been more health conscious. My eyes lit up when Ryan posted his new challenge and I didn’t need much persuasion to get involved. I created my JustGiving site on Thursday 9th April at 6pm and by bed time my family, friends and connections had already donated over £700! This just shows what the general public think of the NHS staff who are risking their own lives to help others at the moment. I’m really chuffed I got to take part in the event. The NHS are truly special and the selflessness they show day in, day out is immense. Thank you to Ryan and all those who fundraised and donated for such a great cause”.
