Everyone at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity would like to say a massive congratulations to James Evans who has completed another Stoptober challenge for the Health Charity this year!

James, pictured below with his wife and daughter, paid a visit to Ward C3 Cardiology and Coronary Care Unit in UHW to present Lianne Daniels, Ward Sister and other members of the department with a cheque for £1165 which he would like to be donated to the department.

James and his friends decided to give up alcohol for the Stoptober Challenge to fundraise for Ward C3 and the Coronary Care Unit to say a big thank you to all the staff who cared for him whilst he was an inpatient.

Due to the incredible care and support the staff gave James and his family during this extremely difficult time, he is thankfully still with us today. Already enthusiastic about completing another Stoptober next year, James said: “I really couldn’t thank the staff enough for what they did for me, without them I wouldn’t be here and fundraising for the department is the least I could do to show my thanks. I’m looking forward to completing my third one next year!”

Both Lianne Daniels and Lisa Hamlett, also a Ward Sister for the department, wanted to thank James for his fantastic achievement. They said: “We are very grateful for all donations made to the department and it was truly lovely to see how much James has improved. His donation is a marvellous and generous gesture which will certainly help enhance patient experience within the department.”

Cardiff & Vale Health Charity very much appreciates this act of kindness and on behalf of the many people who will benefit from his and his friends’ generosity, we thank James, his family and friends once again.
