Martin Driscoll, Executive Director of Workforce and Organisational Development, will be joining participants from all over South Wales by taking part in the Cardiff & Vale Health Charity’s Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 hours, raising funds for Ein Berllan – Our Orchard at University Hospital Llandough.

Martin said: “I’m delighted to be taking part in the Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge and supporting Our Orchard. It’ll be a tough 24 hours but will give me a great sense of achievement as it’s something I’ve wanted to do for some time.”

“I’m really pleased to be fundraising for Our Orchard because its vision is to create a unique space which will become a legacy for generations to come. It will enhance the benefits of health and wellbeing while supporting our patients on their journey of recovery and rehabilitation. It will allow patients to be taken out of the traditional clinical environment and enjoy fresh air and natural light which can assist with recovery.

“Our Orchard will provide lots of volunteering opportunities for our patients, staff and the local community whilst giving local schools an opportunity to visit for school trips to learn about nature.

“No NHS funds will be spent on Our Orchard so I am pleased to be taking part to raise money for this wonderful project.”

Georgina Burke, Fundraiser for Cardiff & Vale Health Charity said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Martin for choosing to raise awareness and vital funds for Our Orchard that will have a direct benefit to patients, staff and the local community. Taking part in the Welsh 3 Peaks challenge is a fantastic achievement, and we look forward to supporting everyone taking part.”
