Funds from our Breast Centre Appeal have funded the purchase of an iPad and 75 inch Interactive Screen with built in PC which is now situated in the Breast Centre Gym.
This equipment has enabled our Senior Physiotherapist to hold high definition virtual exercise classes streamed live to patient’s homes offering technology which can now be used long term, not just during Covid. This is one positive legacy from our new ways of working which will allow access to any of our patients who are unable to leave their homes for whatever reason.
There is a programme of around 14 ‘virtual’ classes which include:
- Sit fit class for those that are struggling with mobility and balance
- Walking at home class
- Arm mobility
- Pilates
- Strengthening class
- Cardio Dance class
Victoria (Tor) Collins, our Senior Physiotherapist at the Breast Centre said “coming into hospital to exercise in a gym may not be everyone’s preference. Having a professional virtual exercise studio set up allows us to support patients with their exercise goals in the comfort of their own home”.
