We are delighted to introduce our new Plaza Exhibition at University Hospital Llandough, Unsung Heroes by Artist and Illustrator, Amy Jackson.
Amy Jackson is a Welsh freelance illustrator, specialising in a pointillism style with her work often depicting social and environmental issues in new and exciting ways. She is inspired by the world around her, creating art and illustrations that convey a message or a cause. Working in a pointillist style with pen and ink, Amy’s designs are created with a mixture of digital and traditional techniques, resulting in thousands of dots to create meaningful pieces. Each piece can take anywhere from ten minutes to hundreds of hours, from stickers to murals.
he collection of work within the Plaza Exhibition consists of Amy’s current and ongoing NHS portrait series project, highlighting the diligent and attentive work from the NHS staff during the pandemic. Over the last year, Amy has asked NHS staff members from across the UK to nominate themselves, a colleague, a friend or a family member for the opportunity to have their portraits drawn. These have and will continue to form part of Amy’s overall NHS portrait series and the nominees will receive a print of the original artwork to keep as a token of much appreciation.
The idea for the project and collection of work is heavily inspired by the pandemic and the loss and destruction that it has brought upon our lives. The past year has shone a light and proven how important the NHS is, and always has been. Each portrait in the series takes anywhere from 50 hours to over 200 hours to complete and consists of thousands of dots.
The artworks in this exhibition are all prints of the original artworks that Amy has created and upon conclusion of her project series, Amy will be donating these artworks to the hospitals that the NHS staff members work at.
