As part of the pan-Wales Arts and Minds Initiative funded by Baring Foundation and the Arts Council of Wales, the Arts for Health and Wellbeing Programme were delighted to commission Four in Four to work with The Recovery and Wellbeing College.
Based on their wealth of experience of creating and delivering Arts & Health projects in Wales, the UK and internationally, Tamsin Griffiths and Paul Whittaker have researched and developed a comprehensive set of recommendations that could be used as a learning guide for artists wishing to work within arts in health and wellbeing, and to protect the mental health of all practitioners, as part of the Year 1 Funding, 2021-2022
The learning will also build and support the arts offer at the Recovery & Wellbeing College and contribute to a sustainable public-facing Arts & Mental Health programme in Wales.
Tamsin and Paul also hosted open, interactive and conversational workshops around working in health care and the intentional use of lived experience as a tool for promoting Recovery and building connection within your practice.
About Four in Four
Tamsin Griffiths and Paul Whittaker are cross disciplinary artists that create participatory arts projects that blur the boundaries of art-forms and challenge perceptions about physical and mental health. With lifelong ‘Lived Experience’ of Mental Illness, they provide invaluable insight into the Mental Health Challenges people face in a Healthcare setting. Working in collaboration, they merge their expertise in visual arts, theatre, sound, creative writing, film, dance and physical performance to suit form and content.
