The Staff Lottery Bids Panel recently approved a bid to provide the staff at the UHB daytime services call centre based in the old Barry leisure centre with a new garden bench, which will allow them to spend more time outdoors during their breaks.
The team weren’t able to work from home during the pandemic, so Wendy Wade, the Vale Locality Service Manager, wanted to reward them for their efforts with an improvement to their workplace environment. The existing bench was in a state of disrepair which in turn was making the staff not want to spend time outdoors. The outside area where the original bench is located is the only place in the open air they can frequent on their lunchbreaks, so the upgrade will allow staff to enjoy the space in the summer months.
Wendy Wade, the Vale Locality Service Manager said: “A big thank you to the Health Charity for the purchase of an outside bench for staff. The Health Board call centre staff based in the old Barry leisure centre are unable to work from home and have like all HB staff had a very difficult few years. There is very little natural light in the call centre so with the addition of an outside space they can now enjoy their break in the fresh air which can only help the wellbeing of the team.”
The Staff Lottery Bids Panel were delighted to approve the bid, as it promotes staff wellbeing by improving their workplace environment, and allowing to spend time outdoors.
