Cardiff & Vale Health Charity is pleased to announce Spencer Gibson, Security Team Leader, has been crowned Health Hero for March.
In December 2023, the Security team at the University Hospital of Wales received a report of a suspicious male at a building on the hospital site.
Security Team Leader, Spencer Gibson, attended the location and requested support from on-site Health Board Police Liaison Officer PC Baggett. Together, they located the suspicious male and conducted a stop-search where items not belonging to the male were recovered.
Head of Security & Portering Services, Damian Winstone said, “While attempts were ongoing to identify the male by PC Baggett, Security officers retained the items at the Security control room for safe keeping, and managed to identify the rightful owner of the recovered property via social media. The owner of the property declared that they had been a victim of burglary just a few hours earlier.”
Security immediately contacted PC Baggett who then arrested the suspicious male and took him into police custody.
Damian continued, “This was great partnership work between Cardiff and Vale University Health Board Security Team and Neighbourhood Officers at South Wales Police to keep people safe. Spencer worked tirelessly, and four hours after the incident took place, the suspect was arrested.”
Spencer will be Health Hero for the month of March and will receive a treat from sponsors Park Plaza Cardiff. He is delighted with the award nomination.
The Health Hero Award is supported by Cardiff & Vale Health Charity and Park Plaza Cardiff.
