The Staff Lottery Bids Panel were delighted to support a bid to install three fold-up seats along the long corridor of Cardiff Royal Infirmary, in an aim to improve the patient, staff and visitor experience.
The long corridor running through Cardiff Royal Infirmary previously didn’t have any place to rest for individuals who are vulnerable, elderly, or who have respiratory and mobility conditions. The addition of the seats means that the patients, staff, and visitors are able to take rest breaks whilst heading to their appointments, making the corridor a safer and kinder environment for those who aren’t able to remain mobile for extended periods of time.
Sheila Williams, the Administration Manager from the Psychology & Psychological Therapies Team, said: “A couple of patients I have offered help to have expressed that they would rather not have to rely on others to help them in meeting their desire to be, and remain, independent, and seating would address this. Staff will also benefit from this project, as we have a number of staff with mobility conditions.”
The Staff Lottery Bids Panel were delighted to approve the bid, as it significantly improves the patient and staff environment, and supports individuals who might find it difficult to walk the whole stretch of the CRI corridor.
