Everyone at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity would like to say a massive congratulations to Samantha Jay Udry who recently ran the Cardiff Half Marathon to raise funds for our tiniest patients.
Samantha, pictured below, paid a visit to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in UHW to present Samantha Hallam, the Deputy Ward Manager and other members of the NICU team with a cheque for £402.50 which she donated to the Unit.
Samantha decided to fundraise for NICU to say a big thank you to the staff who cared for her gorgeous baby boy Hudson Henry Udry, also pictured left giving his mum a big round of applause for her fantastic achievement.
Hudson was born on 15th October 2018 but unfortunately due to a very long and traumatic labour, contracted a very nasty infection and was admitted onto the NICU at UHW. It was a truly horrific time for both Hudson and his parents but the care, treatment and support the staff of NICU provided both Hudson and his parents was absolutely incredible and made the ordeal far more bearable.
The Cheque Presentation took place on Hudson’s first birthday and as you can see in the picture above, he truly was enjoying his big day as a very happy and healthy little boy.
Samantha said “I’ve always wanted to run a half marathon so have really challenged myself to get it done before his first birthday, then Cardiff & Vale Health Charity offered me a place for the Cardiff Half! Running it and fundraising for NICU is my way of saying a HUGE ‘Thank You’ for the support we received from the staff during a really unexpected and difficult time.”
Cardiff & Vale Health Charity really does appreciate this act of kindness on behalf of the many people who will benefit from her generosity, we thank Samantha, her family and friends who sponsored her once again.
