Everyone at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity would like to say a big thank you to Rory Campbell-Carden who decided to do a virtual marathon along the ‘Inca Trail’, all in aid of helping the staff of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board during the COVID-19 pandemic!

Inspired and motivated by another NHS fundraising hero, Captain Tom Moore, Rory wanted to show his support for the NHS staff tirelessly working across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan and decided to start fundraising. Rory set out to complete the Inca Trail Virtual Marathon in 5 days during his daily exercise allowance. Starting on Thursday 16th April 2020, Rory completed the 26.2 mile challenge on Tuesday 21st April 2020, conquering the Inca Trail! In total, Rory raised a fantastic £389, which he wished to donate to Cardiff & Vale Health Charity to help support our NHS heroes!

Rory said: “My wife, mother-in-law and sister-in-law all work for Cardiff and Vale UHB so I thought it was a great cause. I am really proud of them all so I hope my fundraising helps support the NHS through this horrible and unprecedented time. Thank you all ever so much, our country is proud of your amazing efforts. You all run your own marathon every day and I hope you realise that your efforts are the saviour of our nation. Well done and please stay safe.”
We at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity very much appreciate this act of kindness and on behalf of all the NHS teams here in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, we thank Rory from the bottom of our hearts for his inspiring kindness and generosity once again.
