Cardiff & Vale Health Charity is pleased to announce Neal Jones, Health Care Support Worker at Park Road Houses has been crowned Health Hero for October, in time to mark World Mental Health Day.

As an integral member of the nursing team, Neal’s dedication to patient care within the Rehabilitation and Recovery Service of the Mental Health Clinical Board has been described as exemplary.

Putting the needs of his patients first, Neal takes a thoughtful and proactive approach to ensure their wellbeing. He organises activities that not only support patients during their recovery, but also to provide sustainable life skills they can carry forward as they transition back into the community. These activities include swimming and cycling which encourage both physical and mental wellbeing.

These are important skills for patients who are preparing for independent living, and Neal’s positive and patient-centred approach has made a real difference in their lives.

“It is important to mention that Neal has been facing personal challenges as a carer, yet despite this, he continues to come to work with a smile on his face and a spring in his step, bringing positivity and energy to both his colleagues and patients.

“Neal’s unwavering commitment to his patients, even in the face of his own difficulties, makes him outstanding.”

Senior Nurse Manager, Joanne Glover said, “Neal is an amazing asset to Park Road in promoting independence for our clients and giving them the confidence to build new skills and improve existing ones.
