Everyone at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity would like to say a massive thank you to Louise Fisher who decided to do a virtual bike ride and has raised a fantastic £843.75 for the staff of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board during the COVID-19 pandemic!

Louise’s virtual ride started from Lands’ End and ended at John O Groats, cycling a whopping total of 1083 miles! Louise commenced the ride on Sunday 12th April, and originally planned to complete the mammoth task in under 4 weeks by cycling around 60 miles a day. However, she decided to make her task even more challenging by aiming to complete the ride in 2 weeks. Following this change in goal, Louise cycled 100 miles a day, 60 in the morning and 40 in the afternoon finishing on Sunday 26th April! Louise fund-raised for both Cardiff and the Vale and Cwm Taf, the latter of which she raised a further £682.29 for, bringing her total to £1,526.04 raised for our NHS!

Louise said “I am not in a position to assist on a voluntary basis to help the NHS during this tragic time so decided to do something I know I could do, exercising on a static bike and raising crucial funds for staff via Cardiff & Vale Health Charity. I wish to support our NHS staff in both Cardiff and Vale and Cwm Taf during this difficult time as this challenge is nowhere near the challenge they face every day”.

We at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity very much appreciate this act of kindness and on behalf of all the NHS teams here in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, we thank Louise from the bottom of our hearts for her inspiring kindness and generosity once again.
