Polina from Services Design Solutions, Lisa Cordery – Specialist Nurse Emotional Wellbeing and Hibah and Gruff from the Cardiff and Vale Youth Board

With the generosity of Services Design Solution in Cardiff, young people in Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan will receive wellbeing packs to bring them comfort when they need it most.

The idea of providing comfort bags for young people originally came from the Cardiff and Vale Youth Board. They identified that more support was needed for young people who were admitted into hospital and placed onto adult wards, or 16–17-year-olds being treated at the adult emergency unit.

These young people are often frightened to be treated within the adult areas and the idea of giving each young person a teenage comfort bag of items that will help their stay would be hugely beneficial to them.

With the support of local company, Services Design Solutions (SDS) they made this happen.

Fifty teenage comfort bags were donated by SDS which included items such as lip balm, wet wipes, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrush, earplugs, activity books and pencils.

Dr Lisa Cordery, specialist nurse for emotional wellbeing said, “Thank you to Polina and Luke at Services Design Solution for this wonderful donation. We hugely appreciate your support. We know these comfort bags will make a huge difference to the young people attending adult areas within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, helping them feel less anxious, and more comfortable. This is especially important when it comes to waiting in the Emergency Department, and on adult wards.

“Thank you also to Cardiff and Vale Youth Board for the lovely idea, and to Hibah and Gruff for attending the presentation on behalf of the Youth Board.”

Polina Polozova from Services Design Solution said, “Services Design Solution (SDS) are a sustainability and building services consultancy based in Cardiff. As part of our mission, we are committed to improving our communities and the environment and pledge to donate 1% of our annual turnover to projects locally.

We are committed to making a positive impact on the environment and the local communities in which we live, work and play.

With this donation our team wanted to make a small difference for children who get admitted to the hospital and make sure they have essential things which can make their stay in the hospital a little bit more comfortable.

We strive to continue supporting Cardiff & Vale Health Charity as well as the other local organisations in the future”.

Cardiff & Vale Health Charity thanks SDS for this thoughtful donation.
