If you were near Pen Y Fan on 19th May 2018, you may have seen Prince Harry, Meghan Markle or even a minion at the summit!
Jo Doce and her group of friends and work colleagues walked the gruelling 886 meters to the top of Pen Y Fan in fancy dress to raise money for the Better Life Appeal. Luckily it was a sunny day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the walk.
Between them all, they raised the incredible amount of £1329.62 which is fantastic and will really help to improve the environment for patients.
Jo who works as a nurse at the Cystic Fibrosis Ward at University Hospital Llandough said ‘The cystic fibrosis ward in Llandough Hospital has seven beds, and only one has an en-suite. More than 300 patients are cared for by the centre, some come from as far as mid and west Wales. As a ward we are fundraising for a new, bigger improved space for our patients, so they can have the facilities they deserve during their often frequent and prolonged hospital stay.’
Dr Ketchell, Consultant at the Cystic Fibrosis Unit said ‘I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the fancy dress walk up Pen Y Fan. A fantastic achievement and a wonderful amount raised for the Better Life Appeal. Events like this are really important to help keep up the profile of our appeal and raise the much needed funds for our unit’.
