We are delighted to welcome the new Barry Hospital exhibition by Sight Life, a blind and partially sighted photography group.
The group have captured pictures and subjects ranging from wildlife to musicians performing, as well as portraits and art deco themes.
Sight Life is the new operating name for Cardiff Institute for the Blind. Established in 1865, Sight Life is one of Wales’ oldest charities and continues to provide essential advice and a range of services to support blind and partially sighted people across South Wales to enjoy independent, active, social, and fulfilled lives.
Active group member Des Radcliffe, who is registered blind and was formerly a freelance photographer, said: “The exhibition shows that people who cannot necessarily see very well, can still have a fun life doing what they enjoy. The group have chosen a sample of our work to exhibit, and we hope the public find them inspirational and enjoy the exhibition.”
The group meets regularly at Sight Life’s activity room at its base in Cardiff and have had organised photography trips to the National Museum of Wales, St Fagans National Museum of History, Cardiff City Football Club, The New Theatre, Cardiff Bay, Caerphilly Castle, and many other places of interest in and around South Wales and valleys area.
Sight Life and the photography group are grateful to Cardiff and Vale University Health Board for their support.
