Congratulations to Emily Chirighin who completed a 177 mile Challenge, all in aid of helping the staff of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board during the COVID-19 pandemic!

Inspired by other NHS fundraising heroes Captain Tom Moore and Gareth Bale, 17 year old Emily also wanted to show her support for our NHS. A student currently studying for her A Levels at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf, Emily decided to start fundraising in aid of all the NHS staff tirelessly working across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan during this pandemic. As a way of showing her thanks, Emily decided to challenge herself during the lockdown to cycle the equivalent distance between Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor and our very own University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, a total distance of 177 miles within 7 days!

Emily completed her challenge, nearly cycling the equivalent of a marathon each day on Saturday 2nd May. So far, she has raised a fantastic £670 and wishes to continue fundraising for Cardiff & Vale Health Charity to show further support to our NHS heroes! Emily said: “I did this challenge to show my appreciation for the NHS staff working hard across Cardiff and the Vale. We are living in challenging times so I am looking to carry on fundraising to hopefully help further during this pandemic.”

A big thank you to Emily, from everyone at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity, we very much appreciate this act of kindness and on behalf of all the NHS teams here in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, we thank Emily from the bottom of our hearts for her inspiring kindness and generosity once again.
