Cardiff & Vale Health Charity is pleased to announce Eleri Crudgington, Operations Manager, Community Specialist Services has been crowned Health Hero for December.

Eleri was nominated for Health Hero due to her continuous support and passion for the health, safety, and wellbeing of colleagues and patients. She is committed to everything she does, keeping service users central in any developments, always going above and beyond.

Ceri Waters, Locality Administration and Operational Manager said, “Eleri provides passion and commitment to Cardiff Royal Infirmary (CRI) in all her roles. It is important to acknowledge that although not part of her job role, she has dedicated so much time and effort to improve the site as Chair of the CRI User Group, keeping staff and patients at the heart of care.”

Loretta and Mandy, who both work in the Aroma café at CRI said, “Eleri is an amazing CRI manager, always ensuring that we ladies in the café are safe; she checks in on us regularly as we are lone workers and vulnerable. She is our ‘go-to’ person as we know she will always listen and do her best to ensure our safety and wellbeing. She is approachable and kind and we feel able to talk to her about anything because she genuinely cares.

“We recently experienced an upsetting and frightening situation involving a substance misuse person. We raised our concerns with Eleri and straight away she contacted the relevant people to resolve the situation satisfactorily.”

Sheila Williams, Cluster Project Development Manager said, “Come rain or shine, nothing is too much trouble for Eleri, and she will always do her best to help colleagues, contractors, patients, and visitors at CRI. She is the person we always turn to for anything CRI-related. Using her wealth of knowledge and contacts, she has played a key role in organising events like the CRI centenary celebration and official opening of Capel i Bawb, for the installation of a prayer room, the siting of a defibrillator in the car park, placing naloxone supplies at various locations throughout the hospital and arranging training for staff in its use, plus so much more.

“Knowing that Eleri is always available and approachable makes working at CRI a pleasure.”

Eleri will be Health Hero for the month of December and will receive a treat from sponsors Park Plaza Cardiff. She is delighted with the award nomination.
