The Department of Sexual Health (DOSH) at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon, raising money for Cardiff & Vale Health Charity.
Janine Bird and Katie Bassett encouraged their colleagues to take part, running or walking the 13.1 miles to complete the challenge, raising funds for wards at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales, which are part of Cardiff & Vale Health Charity.
There are 17 staff members from the department running/walking the Cardiff Half Marathon.
To raise money, the team organised a charity rounders tournament with teams from:
- Department of Sexual Health
- North West Community Resource Team
- South East Community Resource Team
- Velindre Hospital.
The tournament was lots of fun and was won by Velindre Hospital. There have been a number of cake sales raising over £300. They are running a tuck shop selling sweets, made up by Janine, and organised a World Cup sweep to raise as much money as possible for their chosen area.
The team are arranging future events including a quiz night at the end of August, organising a raffle and other fun activity nights.
