As part of plans to improve the environment and ‘first impressions’ of all patients, visitors and staff at Barry Hospital, Cardiff & Vale Health Charity have been working closely with the team at the Community Payback Service.
Working with Lacey the Community Payback Operations Manager, Gethin and their team have already decorated the newly refurbished Mary Lennox Room which was re-opened in February 2019, and are now continuing to support Cardiff & Vale Health Charity as part of our ongoing ‘First Impressions’ project at Barry Hospital.
During the first quarter of this year, the Community Payback Scheme attended site to do works 12 days total. 78 service users have worked at site during this time which works out at an average of 6.5 people per session, with 529 hours of Community Payback work has been provided.
The partnership between Cardiff and Vale Health Board, Cardiff & Vale Health Charity and the Community Payback Scheme is ongoing. The team have already improved the outside areas of Barry Hospital and some of the internal garden spaces. They are also currently working on the refurbishment of benches used in the outdoor areas, and are in the process of planting wildflower gardens around the site.
The work the Community Payback Scheme is doing is making such a difference to the ‘first impression’ of all those visiting and working at Barry Hospital.
This project helps the Health Board to fulfil its responsibilities towards the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act: A Resilient Wales, and supports the Cardiff and Vale UHB Wellbeeing Project http://www.cardiffandvaleuhb.wales.nhs.uk/sitesplus/documents/1143/009%20WellBEEing%20WFG.pdf
