Happy Christmas to year 5 student Carys Callan who we welcomed to UHW and who recently completed the IronKids Run in Tenby fundraising challenge to support the Critical Care Unit at University Hospital of Wales in recognition for the care her father received there.
Wanting to support the unit, Carys said, “The whole team on the Critical Care Unit did an amazing job when my dad was taken there last year, and they also helped me understand what was happening.
“The goal was £250, and we thought if we managed to raise that amount, that would be amazing! But to our amazement the donation total is nearly £2,800. We can’t thank the local community enough for all their support.”
Intensive Care Consultant, Nick Stallard says, “I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to Carys for taking on the IronKids Run in Tenby to support the Critical Care Unit at the University Hospital of Wales. Carys’ dedication and effort are truly inspiring.
“Her participation not only raises vital funds but also brings awareness to such an important cause. Thank you for your incredible contribution.” Fundraisers and charity events like IronKids are such a great way to make a positive impact.
