Throughout August, the wonderful teams at Bad Wolf, Screen Alliance Wales (SAW) and IJPR chose to raise money for our Breast Centre at University Hospital Llandough, where their friend and colleague Allison is receiving treatment for breast cancer.

To show their support for Allison as she began her treatment, Bad Wolf, SAW and IJPR embarked on a 100 kilometre challenge to complete in August.  Whether by running, walking, swimming etc. all the funds raised have benefitted our Breast Centre Appeal.

The support they have all received has been incredible, and is testament to everyone’s well wishes to Allison. As one of the donors said, “[this is] All of your positivity being reflected back to you.”.  In the words of the team at Bad Wolf, ‘the wonderful Wolfpack’ crossed the finish line on 2nd September, reaching their 100k target, having raised over £6,800 between them.

This phenomenal fundraising from the ‘August for Allison’ challenge will directly support patients at the Breast Centre, University Hospital Llandough, where we treat between 450 and 500 new breast cancer patients every year and serve patients from the whole of Wales and the surrounding areas. At a time when patients may be very anxious, we are told it makes a huge difference to them to have a streamlined and bespoke service with everything under one roof, and the support provided.

Everyone at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity, the Breast Centre Appeal and the patients that will directly benefit from their support, send thanks to the Wolfpack at Bad Wolf, Screen Alliance Wales and IJPR, and of course send our very best wishes to Allison during her treatment and recovery.
