Everyone at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity would like to say a massive thank you to Alex and Sarah Barnes for their continued fundraising for the Rainbow Clinic at the University Hospital of Wales!

On 17th September 2018 Alex and Sarah’s son, Noah Edward Barnes, was born forever sleeping. It was truly a horrific time for Noah’s parents and the family as a whole, but the care staff gave the family was exemplary, providing them with great support and empathy in their time of need. The staff of the Rainbow Clinic provided even more care and support to the family throughout Sarah’s second pregnancy, when she gave birth to beautiful little baby Frank on the eve of the first COVID-19 lockdown!

Alex said, “The University Hospital of Wales Rainbow Clinic and its staff have gone above and beyond providing Sarah, Noah and I with first rate care, and handling the whole situation with dignity. This is therefore a cause very close to my heart and I wanted to give back to provide support for other families and the amazing midwives that work within this ward. The team were also an amazing support during our second pregnancy so we feel the team will benefit greatly from our fundraising.”

As a result of the compassionate care both Alex and Sarah received, they decided to fundraise for the Rainbow Clinic to say thank you and give back to the amazing staff who helped them through both the worst and best times of their life. The fundraising duo received great support from both friends and family and raised a fantastic £1,800 for the department!

Alex’s younger brother, Ryan also fundraised for the Health Charity in December 2018, taking part in ‘The 10 Challenge’ and raising £1,000 for the Specialist Midwifery and Snowdrop Suite.

We at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity very much appreciate this act of kindness and on behalf of all the NHS teams here in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, we thank Alex, Sarah and their family and friends from the bottom of our hearts for their inspiring kindness and generosity once again.
