As National Heart Month celebrates the strength of communities and the importance of cardiac care, one family has once again shown how kindness and determination can make a lasting impact.

Regular fundraiser Hannah Godwin, together with her young twin daughters Leia and Thea, has continued her incredible support for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. Last autumn, Hannah rallied friends, former classmates and local supporters to come together for two special events: a cosy Bettws High School (class of ’96–’00) reunion in October, followed by another hugely successful Ladies’ Night in Risca in November.

The warmth, generosity and community spirit at both events helped fund a very special request from Professor Orhan Uzun: six‑lead KardiaMobile ECG monitors to support faster diagnosis and improved monitoring for cardiac patients. Thanks to Hannah, Leia and Thea’s efforts, and the kindness of everyone who attended, they were able to fund five of these advanced portable monitors.

Leia and Thea proudly delivered the devices to the team, their smiles reflecting the difference they’re helping to make. Their contribution is a touching reminder of how community-led fundraising can directly enhance patient care and support the vital work of our clinical teams.

During National Heart Month, their story highlights the power of compassion, community and family commitment—showing that even small events can lead to life-changing impact.
