Well done to the team who completed the National Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday the 24th of July, to raise funds for the Neurosurgical Unit at the University Hospital of Wales.

Victoria Ansell, Adam Glencross, David Glencross, Jon-Paul Glencross, Marcus Evans and Jon Rowe describe themselves as ‘beer drinking, pub loving individuals’ and succeeded in completing the challenge in an incredible 27 hours, 58 minutes and 30 seconds, which included a 4 hour delay on the motorway between Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike. They raised a fantastic £3,500!

Adam Glencross said: “The reason we undertook the challenge was that earlier in the year, Vicky’s mum unexpectedly discovered that she had a large tumor on her frontal lobe and that emergency surgery was required to remove it before it grew any larger. The first-class treatment by the staff on the Neurosurgical Unit has since led Debbie to make a full recovery and we wanted to raise some funds for their team as a way of thanking them for all their hard work and dedication to treating others.”

“Special mentions also to Bradley Evans for driving us over the course of the weekend and to Catherine Ansell who made the 3.5 hour drive from Liverpool to join us for our night-time climb up Scafell Pike.”

The National Three Peaks Challenge takes place across England, Wales and Scotland, where the participating adventurers have to climb Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis, one after the other. The peaks have a total of a 26 mile horizontal distance, and 3,000 meters of vertical ascent.

We would like to say a huge thank you to the group for completing this incredible challenge, and for raising a phenomenal £3,500!
