Thank you to Jac Morris who recently cycled from North to South Wales over four days to raise funds for Cardiff & Vale Health Charity and the Doddie Weir Foundation.

Jac accompanied by Dad, Gwyn have raised nearly, £4,000 which will be split equality between both charities.

Big congratulations from everyone at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity, and thank you for your support Jac! This has been an incredible feat, and your efforts and support are greatly appreciated. The full story is below.

Jac Morris, a sports mad teenager and pupil at Whitchurch High School will be cycling 400km from North to South Wales over four days starting on August 2nd. Jac is supporting Cardiff & Vale Health Charity and the Doddie Weir Foundation.

During the pandemic and recent lockdown restrictions, Jac had time to reflect and think about many things and how he could continue to improve his fitness for the sports he loves, rugby and football, when training came to a halt.

Jac says ” I was lucky enough to have a road bike for my first ‘lockdown’ birthday in May 2020 and with the help and encouragement of my Dad, we were able to enjoy training in the open freedom of our countryside on our daily exercise. Come rain or shine my dedication and passion to do the best I can, keeps me going. I decided to set myself a goal –a ride, North to South Wales approximately 400km over 4 days.

“So far, this year, I am up to a total of 2186km in training with my longest ride currently at 101km. Be it outside or indoors on the turbo trainer, I am putting in the hours every week. And if this is my goal, I want to have something worthwhile attached to it and raise as much money as I can for charity. Alongside me all the way will be dad, Gwyn Morris. I am sure he will be spurring me on from the back.

“The charities I have chosen are Cardiff & Vale Healthy Charity, to support all the local NHS workers, after seeing all the amazing work and dedication they have and continue to do, throughout the pandemic. I am also supporting The Doddie Weir Foundation. Something that has really shocked me is the number of high-profile sportsmen diagnosed with MND, along with those in the general population, including families I know affected by this disease. The foundation is committed to helping improve the lives of those affected by Motor Neuron Disease and seek ways to further research into this, as yet, an incurable disease.”

Jac will be setting off on August 2nd starting in Anglesey North Wales and finishing on August 5th at the Roald Dahl Pass Cardiff Bay. You can keep up to date via Twitter @Cyclejacs.
